HI! Welcome to the Eco Grove Project. This is my personal project to prove that olive oil can be truly carbon negative from Tree to Table. For me, the planet’s future for my son must be protected. Being carbon neutral just isn’t enough, we must do more!
So What is The Project
The eco grove project is about proving olive groves can play a big role in protecting the planet and be a truly carbon negative business. Once we have done it here, we will be moving to other groves and growers and helping them change also.

Here is The Why
For those who know me. They know how important my olive grove is to me. I love everything olive tree and oil. From talking to them during the year, keeping them healthy and pesticide free to the hard work of the harvest and the ultimate reward of the pure Tuscan olive oil, green gold, received for the effort throughout the year. I just love it.
The Eco Part
To be honest I never really thought about the impact on the environment. After all, they are trees, right? However, the amount of diesel and non-reusable plastics, electricity and staggering wastes of water would blow most people’s minds. Olive trees are one of the top carbon sinkholes IN THE WORLD, and yet all olive groves due to processes of farming and cultivation to bottling, mean they are carbon positive. All of which I discovered after the birth of my son. I looked at him and realized the world and his future need to be protected. I can’t change the planet, but I can change me.

Of course, there is more to think about than just the future….there is also the now. The grove project has to be good for all, so we are employing many locals of all ages to work in the grove.
From maintenance to cooking the food that keeps us going during harvest! The people are what make the grove, and they are as important to me as the future for my son.

How are we doing it?
There is LOT involved in commercial olive oil production. We are not talking about the people who pick a few olives of 5-10 trees and create enough olive oil for themselves. This must be a proof-of-concept project for the people with large groves who produce olive oil as a business or to sell.
We can’t replace all aspects of farming olives; the technology just isn’t there … YET! But we CAN replace a lot of it.
Alternative Power Supply
Solar & Wind will power the bulk of everything we do. Including new portable power stations for harvest.
Water Recycling
A huge amount of water is used in producing olive oil. Our new frantoio will be recycling and reusing all the water we use.
A LOT of battery power
We are replacing all of the tools and most of the machinery & vehicles in the grove with equivalent battery power tools where possible.
Grove Management
From olive tree spacing, how they are maintained and what is under the trees, plus more, ALL play an important part of being carbon negative .
Eco Delivery
With eco friendly delivery & creating local delivery/bottling options, we minimise footprint & help majorly towards our goal.
Recycled Everything
Recycled packaging to glass bottles. Reduces pollution and landfill. We use it where possible without pricing out the market.
Minimising Footprints
We need to take every opportunity to minimise the carbon footprint. Detailing every part of the grove and how we can save even more.
Hydrogen Power
Hydrogen is the only true option for replacing heavy machinery on a farm. Great strides are being made, and we WILL be adopting it.
Training & Education
All of this is for nothing if we can’t replicate what we do for others. It must be a viable for everyone. Courses & training will play a big role.
